How Transfer Tapes Are Vital For Shipping Businesses

Transfer tapes are becoming common and continue to play a critical role in the shipping industry. They are used with craft projects, vinyl graphics and stickers. You can use the tape to make the consignment attractive and impressive. Also, the adhesives can come in handy for companies that want to market their brand.

Therefore you may use the transfer tape to bind a large variety of surfaces, including cardboard paper, metals, HDPE glass and high surface energy plastics. A tape with acrylic adhesive has an excellent ability to hold the surfaces even when temperatures are low.

Therefore, transfer tapes are designed to meet shipping applications and make products look streamlined. The tapes are double-sided, contain removable paper liners, and join any two substrates. They are commonly applied in industrial and commercial applications. Read on to understand how transfer tapes are critical in the shipping industry.

1. Weatherproof And UV Resistant

Transfer tapes are weatherproof and water-resistant. These are important features you must consider when shipping products. Also, they are UV resistant and so they are unlikely to be discolored or degraded while in the high seas. The tapes cannot bleach or crack due to exposure to too much sunlight. Also, they cannot harden and become brittle.

2. Resistant To High and Low Temperature

Transfer tapes are designed to provide an adhesive even in cases where the temperature ranges from high to low.  It reduces adhesive failure due to softening as it is applied in different temperate conditions. In some cases, the transfer tape can be modified with secondary chemicals triggered by changes in temperature, so it improves its formulation and performance when triggered. Also, some elements can be adjusted and altered to ensure optimum bond on a substrate if temperatures get to the extreme.

3. You Low Surface Energy Substrates

Transfer tapes are engineered to be used on different materials ranging from vinyl, polystyrene and even polyethene. These are unique surfaces that may not allow other normal adhesives to stick easily. However, transfer tapes overcome the bonding obstacles and can stick on such surfaces. So they allow exporters to easily package and ship consignments.

4. High Initial Tack

Transfer tapes are pressure sensitive and have a high initial tack, enabling them to create a tough bond between the substrate and label. The substrate strengthens into a permanent bond which does not allow for easy label removal. The adhesive is vital when used on substrates with unusual surfaces such as building material and fabrics that standard materials may not easily adhere to.

5. Exceptional Holding Strength

Transfer tapes feature high-performance film that secures the tape on any package to help maximize durability and holding power. So it is ideal for use on small and medium-size electronics, books and even parcels. It can also be used when transporting large merchandise and home appliances. You may use it on furniture, cartons and even boxes.  They provide a cost-effective solution for various packaging needs and materials. They are safe and ideal for packaging shipping materials that require high-performance tapes. The tapes resist breakage even when punctured or nicked and can even be used on fabricated or corrugated fiberboard surfaces.

6. Come In Different Coating Widths

The thickness of any given tape is critical in determining where to use it. Transfer tapes come in different thicknesses, depending on the application you want to apply them to.  Different manufacturers have varying formulations for different widths. So for shipping tasks, there are plenty of transfer tape options you can choose from. But ensure to consider the type of goods or products to be shipped.

7. They Are Double-Sided

The tapes consist of a film with unsupported adhesive and are coated with release liners that feature silicon on either side. It allows the tape to unwind on lamination and substrates. The multifoil type comes in rubber, modified acrylic and acrylic adhesive making it suitable for binding large surfaces.  Some tapes feature dry edge liners on either side, meaning that you can remove the liner on the side you want to use. Also, they feature a finger-lift edge that allows you to remove the liner easily.

The finger-lift tape has many benefits, including performing excellently on paper-based materials including the point of sale and display posters.

Of course, transfer tapes are engineered for shipping businesses. However, the results you get depend on the products you plan to ship and how the tape is applied. So learning how to apply them will make the final product visually appealing and easy to ship.
