How To Balance Your Hormones In 4 Simple Steps

43% of women report having some type of hormone imbalance. Hormones may not be the first thing you think of then you’re not feeling well, but with over 50 different hormones in our body, there is bound to be an imbalance at some point.

1. Healthy Fats and Fewer Carbs

One of the biggest things that can affect hormones in your diet. If you are eating too many carbohydrates it can actually deplete your hormones. 

You should stick to healthy fats like avocados and egg yolks. These healthy fats will keep your metabolism going without making you feel sluggish. These healthy fats are essential building blocks for your hormones so you want to make sure you’re paying attention to what you are eating.

2. Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a building block hormone for adrenaline and dopamine. Making sure you are getting enough vitamin D is important because it can play a big role in how you feel.

Most people are not getting enough vitamin D in their day to day lives and may need to take a supplement. By making sure you are consuming enough vitamin D is vital, by not getting enough vitamin D you’re body can have a weakened immune system and even struggle with osteoporosis. 

3. Find a Way to Cope With Stress

Stress can play a part in your hormones because when you’re stressed your body will have elevated levels of cortisol. Cortisol will elevate your heart rate along with your blood pressure.

Although your flight or fight response is important, it can be dangerous if your body is constantly in this response. When you feel stressed you should take deep breaths and try to lower your heart rate.

You can also try activities like yoga that will stretch and relax your body so that your body will stop producing cortisol. You should also be making sure you’re getting enough sleep at night and eating a balanced diet.

4. Stay Active

It is said that you should be getting at least 30 minutes of cardio a day. This is important for cardiovascular health along with releasing your “feel-good hormones”.

By making sure you’re exercising daily will allow your body to release dopamine which is the hormone that makes you feel good about yourself. Exercising can also increase levels of estrogen in women and testosterone in men. These hormones will help give you energy and boost your metabolism to keep you going in your day.
