Alcohol and drugs affect how the brain feels and works, and will harm your ability to think, create, feel, and make decisions.

2. Getting enough sleep

You need to ensure you are getting enough sleep. There are many benefits of sleep both mental and physical. There are psychiatric or psychological issues that can cause sleep problems, but not getting enough sleep is going to make pre-existing conditions like stress, depression, and anxiety worse. 3. Keeping active

Try to get regular exercise and be consistent. Exercise is just like sleep and diet because it is going to have an impact on both the body and mind. You need to keep active whether it is going for walks, playing a sport, going to the gym, practicing yoga, or running will help lower your anxiety and stress levels. It is also going to improve your self-esteem. Exercising and being active are not easy for everyone. 4. Limiting media and technology use

You should try to reduce the amount of technology you use and media consumption. Maybe you don’t think that you are addicted to social media or your smartphone, but reducing your technology usage and media consumption is going to turn out more difficult than you think. Prolonged and excessive use of social media and other media consumption is very harmful. Over-consuming news can harm your mental wellbeing. You don’t have to go cold turkey and cut it out completely from your life. The goal is to limit how or when you consume it. Below are tips that will help you with this;

Avoid having a phone in your bedroom so it isn’t the last thing you check before you go to bed or the first thing you reach out for when you wake up in the morning. Avoid using your phone the first half-hour when you wake or half an hour before going to bed.
