How To Plan An Easter Egg Hunt Successfully

Easter is almost here and if you’ve got children, it’s likely you’ll be throwing an Easter egg hunt to keep them entertained throughout the day. While planning an Easter egg hunt sounds simple – buy the Easter eggs and hide them – there are a few important things to keep in mind to ensure the event runs smoothly.

Whether you choose to hold your Easter egg hunt in the house or the garden, you’ll want to ensure you decorate the space appropriately, plan it for a suitable time, and of course, you have plenty of Easter eggs to go around. 

Here, we outline some tips to help you plan a successful Easter egg hunt.

1. Planning

There’s no set day for the hunt to be held traditionally, so you can choose a time that suits you best. It may be worth considering your plans for the Easter period prior to setting a day and time, as you don’t want the egg hunt to interfere with anything else. 

For example, if you’re going to hold the egg hunt on the same day as Easter lunch, arrange for it to go ahead after the meal, so the children don’t fill up on chocolate Easter eggs beforehand!

2. Decorations

A few decorations will go a long way to making your Easter egg hunt feel special. Choose brightly colored images of Easter eggs, rabbits, and chicks, along with arrows to give clues as to where the eggs might be hidden.

3. Easter eggs

If you’re hosting guests or other children during your hunt, ensure you’re aware of any allergies they may have. Peanut allergies are one of the most common causes of food related death in the UK, so avoid any eggs containing nuts. 

4. Encourage teamwork

If you’ve got a large group of children together for the Easter egg hunt, encourage them to split into teams and work together to find the eggs. Not only will this be a great bonding experience, but it will also help them learn how to collaborate with others, which is an essential skill in adult life.
