Retirement Bucket-list: 5 Incredible Ideas That You Should Try

An exciting era in your life is your retirement – there are so many new opportunities and things to do that are waiting for you, after all, many discover new hobbies and passions that they never would have thought of trying whilst in their retirement. Creating a bucket list can help to give you some guidance and a plan of how you would like to spend your newfound free time.

1. Learn a new language

There is no better time than the present to learn a new language. Whether this is because you are going to be going on a trip soon and would like to be able to speak to the locals, or you have always dreamed of being able to have a conversation in Spanish – retirement is a great time to start learning something new and keep your brain occupied! Duolingo has an extensive selection of languages to choose from, as well as interesting games and activities to make it fun and memorable!

2. Travel the world

Now that you have a bit more spare time, why not make use of it and head off traveling? Make a list of some iconic landmarks that you want to see, and get exploring! This could be anything from the Pyramids to the coral reefs in Australia or what about a tour around India? There is plenty still to see, and many attractions are now easily accessible for all.

3. Volunteer at your grandchild’s school

Not just is this a great way to give back to the local community, but it is a great chance to spend some more time with your grandchildren! This doesn’t have to be a large time commitment; it could be a few hours each term to morning each week helping to set up classrooms and activities. After all, spending time with children can give you a new lease on life and help to see the world in a different way!

4. Do something exhilarating

Why not give skydiving, hot air balloons, or jet skiing a go?  Retirement doesn’t have to be boring, and there are plenty of fun things that you can be out enjoying. Being adventurous can give you an adrenaline rush and help you feel young again, after all, there is no better time to give such things a go!

5. Adopt a pet

Adopting a pet can help keep you company. Sometimes retirement can be lonely, after all, you have gone from being busy and looking after the kids, to a slower pace of life and this can take some adjusting. Getting a pet, particularly a dog can help keep you active and give you something to focus on. It is also the perfect excuse to get away on trips to the lake district or nearby beach!

Take inspiration and add these to your retirement bucket list!
