1. Lactic Acid

If you’re familiar with fermented foods, then you should know about lactic acid. This healthy chemical is a natural preservative. It’s also a byproduct of fermentation!

Lactic acid is vegan, too, even if added by manufacturers. Find it in sources like sauerkraut, yogurt, or pickled vegetables. It’s excellent for maintaining gut health!

2. Water

You may be asking, “Is water a chemical?” The answer is yes because it’s composed of two elements – hydrogen and oxygen.

Water takes up a significant portion of the human body, so it’s no surprise that it’s important. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking an adequate amount of water every day.

3. Sorbic Acid

Among the list of good chemicals is sorbic acid. This chemical is a natural preservative. It’s often in drugs, cosmetics, and food.

Some foods you’ll find sorbic acid in are produce and meats. It’s useful for preserving because it’s a natural antibiotic and antifungal.

6. Thiamine Mononitrate

Thiamine mononitrate: that chemical name might look intimidating. But, have no fear! You may know this compound as vitamin B1.

It’s considered one of the beneficial chemicals because it maintains nutrients in processed food. Thiamine mononitrate is also great for the cardiovascular system.
