7 Signs You Should Definitely Go Back To School

7 Signs You Should Definitely Go Back To School

Nowadays, the doors to education are never closed. Even decades after graduation, whatever choices we’ve made in the past, we can choose to learn more. For some, this means reading, watching tutorials, and attending seminars and courses. But for others, going back to college as an adult, either online or with face-to-face classes, is the right choice.

If you are considering taking on a new challenge, here are seven signs that it’s time you went back to school.

1. Your Career Has Hit a Standstill

  • 1. Your Career Has Hit a Standstill
  • 2. Your Earnings Aren’t Meeting Your Expectations
  • 3. You’re Bored
  • 4. You’ve Got More Free Time
  • 5. You Feel Like You’ve Missed Out
  • 6. You Are Ready to Pursue Your Dreams
  • 7. Your Dreams Have Changed

It’s totally normal for our career progression to slow and even stagnate at some point. It’s never going to be constant development and promotions. But if you feel as though you’ve been in the same place for a long time and that nothing you do is making a difference, or you feel as though new, younger people are coming in and leaping ahead of you, enrolling at St. Catherine University and taking a course can be a great way to update your knowledge and boost your career.

2. Your Earnings Aren’t Meeting Your Expectations

Most of us have, at some point, found ourselves wishing we could earn more. In some cases, pushing forward with your career is all it takes. But if you’ve gone as far as you can go, further education can aid further progression or help you to pivot into a new, more lucrative field. Of course, education can be an expense, but many find it’s well worth the investment over time.

3. You’re Bored

Sometimes, the best reason to go back to school is that you are bored. Whether you choose to study something new or to develop your existing knowledge, studying gives you new experiences, helps you think differently, and opens up new doors and opportunities.

4. You’ve Got More Free Time

One of the things that holds us back when it comes to going back to school is a lack of free time. It may have seemed impossible if you’ve been working hard, looking after a family, and trying to manage a busy life. But at some point (perhaps when kids get older), we suddenly find that we have more free time and the opportunity to focus on our happiness, health, and personal development.

5. You Feel Like You’ve Missed Out

Many of us look back at our school years and feel we wasted opportunities and missed out on chances that others took. If you have regrets about your school life or feel you’ve never had the chance to learn as much as you’d liked, remember, it’s never too late.

6. You Are Ready to Pursue Your Dreams

Pursue Your Dreams

As adults, our dreams often get put on hold. Life often gets in the way of their pursuit, and many of us feel like we never got the chance to follow our dreams. But with age often comes free time and disposable income. Use them to your advantage.

7. Your Dreams Have Changed

Some people pick a path at 18 and stay happy with it for the rest of their lives. But if you think about it, that’s fairly unlikely. Few of us are the same people as we were at 18, and it’s normal for our dreams to change. That doesn’t mean you can’t pursue the new ones.

Returning to school as an older adult can be daunting, but it’s a fantastic opportunity to rediscover the joy of learning, reawaken old interests, and push your career to new heights. It can be life-changingly wonderful if you feel ready to take the risk.
