The Hair Transplant Cost Guide: What To Expect In A Hair Transplant

There are countless benefits of getting a hair transplant. Whether you’re looking to increase your self-esteem or take years off your appearance, a hair transplant may be the ideal solution.

However, you may be wondering about a hair transplant cost. There are several different factors to consider, which determine the cost. A hair transplant cost in the USA, for example, will vary depending on where you live and surgeons available.

If you’re ready to take the next step in your hair transplant process and to discover the cost of a hair transplant, then keep reading. You’ll learn all about the cost associated with a hair transplant and how you can benefit from this experience.

1. Hair Transplant Cost

To understand how much does a hair transplant cost, you have to take into consideration location. If you’re in a populated area with competing hair transplant surgeons, the cost will be competitive. However, if you live in an area with fewer available surgeons, the cost may be higher.

It all depends on the demand.

Another factor in the cost of a hair transplant is what procedure you opt to have performed as the price varies depending on the procedure you have done. You can choose from follicular unit extraction (FUE) or follicular unit transplantation (FUT).

After you select the type of procedure you want, the amount of hair you have transplanted will affect the cost. If you have a few patchy spots you want to be filled in, the price will be less than having a hair transplant on the entire top of your head.

2. Overall Cost

Once you take into consideration your location and the amount of hair you want to be transplanted, you can begin to understand the cost. The FUE method is more expensive than the FUT method. This is because it takes surgeons much more time to extract the hair follicles and transplant them one graft at a time.

However, when you break it down, FUE often gives 0.3-1.0 more hair per graft when compared to FUT. This can make the overall cost lower.

FUE can cost $5 to $9 per graft, with anywhere from 500 to 2,000 grafts needed. There will also be a charge for the use of the surgical facility your surgeon uses. Make sure to factor in any after-care such as post-operative checkups.

Since hair transplant is generally considered a cosmetic procedure, insurance most likely won’t cover it. This means you can pay anywhere from $4,000 to $15,000 out of pocket, and upwards if you need more grafts.

Hair Transplants

Now that you know the hair transplant cost, you can decide if this procedure is right for you. While you can put a monetary value on a hair transplant, you can’t put a value on your self-esteem. The decision to invest in a hair transplant is a personal one, and there are ways to budget and save for a hair transplant.
