How To Build A Skincare Routine For Beginners

Skincare is an important aspect of one’s beauty routine, even more, important than makeup in certain situations. Taking care of your skin is one of the first steps toward building a sustainable all-encompassing routine that will allow you to thrive and be healthy.

However, a skincare routine requires planning and some research especially if it’s your first time taking care of your skin. So if you’re keen on investing in your skincare game, then here are some useful tips that will help you get started. 

1. Start with your skin type

2. Stay away from bad ingredients 

Some skincare ingredients are commonly used in the cosmetic and beauty industry due to their affordability and availability. Still, some of these ingredients can be harmful to your skin.

Cleansing agents such as SLS and SLES that are found in many facial cleansers, shampoos, and body washes, can be irritating and drying for your skin despite their seeming effectiveness. So it’s better to replace these ingredients with gentle ones that will be equally useful without being that harsh. 

3. If you don’t know where to start, start simple 

Skincare might seem too complicated, which is why it’s important to start simple and slow, especially if you’re a beginner.

The basics of every skincare routine are cleansing and moisturizing, so if your skin is fine, you can start only with these. Products such as eye-creams, serums, essences, and oils are purely optional, meaning they should be used only and if you’re absolutely sure they’ll be helpful.

Once you master cleansing and moisturizing, you can add other products, but be careful while doing so, mainly if your skin is prone to redness and irritations. 

4. Use products that work for you 

As mentioned before, not all products will work for you. That’s why it’s crucial to be patient and use products that work for you. So, your skin type and ingredients play a huge role, but so do patience and persistence.

If you want to enrich your routine with some extra products, then look no further than Korea, as this country has one of the best skin care industries in the world. Using the best Korean serum for oily skin will definitely minimize the appearance of your pores and reduce breakouts.

Even if you don’t have any apparent skin issues, you should aim to use products that will help you look your best.

5. Give yourself enough time 

Once you introduce a new product to your routine, you should give it time to work. Skin purging is a real thing that happens often, and it means your skin is adjusting to a new product.

So rather than feeling too disappointed, it’s better to be patient and give yourself time. Therefore, feel free to experiment with different (yet appropriate) products until you find your perfect combination.

These steps will definitely help you build a consistent and effective skincare routine. But, you should also be open to research and learning, because skin and products tend to evolve all the time. Aside from that, being patient and persistent will also help you get used to new products.
