It has been a long time since my last first date—more than ten years! —and I’m finally ready to re-enter the scene. Now that I’m older, wiser, and have a whole lot more experience, I feel ready to become once again someone’s significant other and tackle all the challenges of being in a romantic relationship.
But first, I have to get ready for this date. I may be a little rusty, but I know exactly what to do!
1. Getting a New Tailored Suit
Table of Contents
Suits are great, but not when they don’t fit! There’s a difference between buying a new suit at a department store and visiting a tailor who can provide that special touch you can’t find at the local Macy’s.
Part of the reason I’m so excited for this date is that it’s a great excuse to get a brand-new bespoke suit! I can’t wait to look absolutely dapper; after all, appearing confident makes you feel just as self-assured. That’s why I’m going for an inviting blue color with a nice tie to bring the outfit together. I’m also going to make sure my shoes are well-polished beforehand!
2. Picking Out the Right Watch
As someone who has collected a lot of watches, I can tell you that each has its own style and can make or break an outfit. A more unsophisticated outfit paired with an elegant watch doesn’t match, and a nice suit with a dollar-store watch doesn’t make any sense at all!
I know blues and golds go together quite nicely, so I think a standard gold Rolex should work; it will reflect my individual style quite nicely, and it’ll hopefully lead to some interesting conversation over a glass or two of wine!
3. Tackling My Eye Bags
It’s time to be brutally honest with myself: I haven’t aged all that gracefully. My eyes, in particular, are too baggy, and make me look a decade older than I actually am. This happens to everyone, of course, but this feels a bit early for me—after all, I’m only forty!
After hours of searching for solutions online, my doctor suggested trying BOTOX, which would not only fill in the bags, but make my face appear healthier and more youthful. BOTOX, he said, would also smooth out the wrinkles around my eyes—an added bonus!
Hopeful about the results, I went in for a series of easy injections, and lo and behold, they worked! I look far less tired than usual, and my date will surely notice. There’s nothing worse than looking older than you are, so I’m grateful for how it all turned out!
4. Teeth Whitening Kit
As an avid coffee drinker, I sometimes find it hard to keep my teeth looking bright and white. There are so many viable solutions out there, though, including whitening strips. Because people smile so often, it’s important to have an inviting one; I, more specifically, want to have the best in the room!
General dental hygiene is also incredibly important, so while my teeth need to sparkle, my breath has to be minty-fresh, too. I’m even going to bring some breath spray to use in the bathroom after the meal!
5. Fresh Trim and Waxed Eyebrows
I’m not yet ready to shave my hard-earned beard, so for now, I’m going to keep it groomed and expertly trimmed. I don’t want to look intimidating or musty with a bunch of wild facial hair, especially on the first date!
I’m also going to take care of my eyebrows, which can get out of hand. Some men think it’s feminine to wax their eyebrows but taking care of yourself goes beyond gender norms; everyone should take the best care of their appearance as they can!
To wrap it all up, I’m going to put on a nice, subtle cologne—something with a woodsy scent and notes of mint or vanilla would be absolutely ideal.
